Heavy clashes broke out between forces and youth on day second in South Kashmir’s Pulwama after a local militant was killed on Saturday.
Irshad Ahmad Ganaie, a LeT militant killed, was in an encounter with forces yesterday. Protests followed as soon his body was being carried for last rites early Sunday.
“Several people were injured in clashes between protesters and paramilitary CRPF troopers at Padgampora village of Pulwama,” reports said. The youth had started pelting stones on forces.
The reports added that forces also resorted to aerial firing and tear smoke shelling to break up the demonstrations.
Hurriyat patriarch, Syed Ali Geelani also addressed thousands of mourners who participated in his funeral prayers on phone.
