Heavy clashes broke out early Sunday against the proposed “Big International Kashmir Marathon” in University of Kashmir Hazratbal campus.
First of its kind, the twenty-one-kilometre marathon was to begin from Naseem Bagh at Kashmir University and go along the shores of Dal Lake.
Reports reaching here said that youth shouted slogans in favour of freedom and pelted rocks on the forces guarding the venue in the varsity.
“Police and paramilitary forces resorted to tear gas shaelling on protesters at Habak crossing near the venue,” the reports said. “The marathon has been turned into a disaster.”
Why would you call it disgusting..I guess you are living in fools paradise..events like these don’t benefit common kashmiris in anyway…what would say when a mother’s teen aged son is shot dead. Events like these are rubbing salts on the wounds of those wailing mother’s of Kashmir. The form of protest might be wrong (stone pelting) might be wrong but the message has been sent loud and clear.
