A complete shutdown was observed for the second consecutive day in South Kashmir’s Pulwama town on Saturday against the random arrests of youth during nocturnal raids in the district.

Sources said that in wake of possible protests on the first death anniversary of Muhammad Afzal Guroo,Police have arrested at least 28 youth during nocturnal raids in different areas of Pulwama.

Reports said that people in Pulwama observed a complete shutdown against the arrests. Shops, tutorial institutions, and business establishments remained closed while traffic remained off the roads.

Scores of youth resorted to stone-pelting at Rajpora and Muran Chowk of the town.

People alleged that police randomly raided the houses during the dead of night and arrested youth.

Some of the arrested youth have been identified as Amir Ganai, Amir Bashir, Nadeem Ahmed Bhat, Raju Hajam, Muhammad Amir Mir, Muhammad Abrar, Manzoor Ahmed Lone, Imtiyaz Ahmed, Javid Ahmed, Bilal Ahmed Lone and Nazir Ahmed Wagay.
