Chief Judicial magistrate Srinagar, Saturday issued arrest warrant in the name of ‘tainted’ MLA, Rajouri, Shabir Khan in the case of molestation registered against him in The Police Station Shahid Gunj, Srinagar under FIR No. 9/2015 u/s 354 and 509.
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar has clarified that police did not show any reluctance to take cognizance of the molestation complaint and it registered a case only after the intervention of court.
SSP, Srinagar Amit Kumar said that some media organizations have floated this ‘rumor’ and there is no reality in this report. “In reality the complainant approached the Police Station on Feb 6 and instantly police took cognizance and registered the case under the relevant sections of law,” he said.
SSP further said, “As per the legal requirements The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly has been approached to grant necessary permission for the arrest of the accused”.
Kumar said that they have dispatched a police team to Jammu to make the arrest possible.
