SRINAGAR:  Punjab Police have arrested two soldiers – deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, for spying for the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI, reports appearing in the media said. One of them was posted in South Kashmir Anantnag and another in Kargil.

Identified as Harpreet Singh, 23, posted with 19-RR in south Kashmir and Gurbhej Singh, 23, an 18-Sikh Light Infantry clerk, posted in Kargil have shared pictures of over 900 classified documents – pertaining to national security, according to DGP Punjab Police, Dinkar Gupta. They have shared these photographs with Ranvir Singh, a smuggler.

“Gupta said that the Jalandhar Rural Police, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Naveen Singla, while investigating a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case, recovered confidential and secret documents related to the functioning and deployment of the Indian Army from Ranvir Singh, who was arrested with 70 gm of heroin on May 24,” the PTI report said. “He said during interrogation, Ranvir Singh disclosed that he got these documents from Harpreet Singh, who was his friend, as they both belong to the same village.”
