SRINAGAR: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived in Leh on Thursday.  He is on a two-day visit to the Union Territory.

Rahul on his arrival at Leh airport was accorded a warm welcome by party leaders and workers.  Hundreds of workers were seen raising slogans in favor of the congress leader and the party.

This is the first visit of Rahul Gandhi to Ladakh after it was separated from Jammu & Kashmir and accorded status of a Union Territory. He is expected to meet the party leaders in Leh and is likely to hold deliberations with Leh and Kargil units during his two-day stay here.

“He is on a private visit here and he will be meeting the youth Congress body here,” Tsering Namgyal, Leh district president of the party said. “Rahul wouldn’t be holding any outdoor political activity.”
