SRINAGAR: Several vehicles travelling in Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s convoy collided on the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur district while he was on his way from Lucknow on Monday, according to media reports.
The accident occurred near the 89.5-kilometre mark of the expressway, within the jurisdiction of Haliyapur police station. Initial information indicated that the vehicles involved were travelling behind Gandhi’s car, which remained unaffected by the collision, the reports said.
Gandhi was travelling to Sultanpur to appear before a special MP/MLA court for the verdict in a criminal defamation case dating back to 2018.
Further details about the circumstances of the collision were not immediately available.
