Rail service resumed on Wednesday morning after remaining suspended for a day due to security reasons in northern parts of Kashmir, where two local militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) were killed in an encounter with forces on Monday evening.

However, train run from Badgam-Srinagar in the central Kashmir to Anantnag and Qazigund in south to Banihal in Jammu region was not affected and all trains operated normally on Tuesday.

He said train service resumed on Srinagar-Badgam to Baramulla in north Kashmir, a senior railway official said.
