SRINAGAR: The Railways will temporarily add an AC 3-tier coach to the Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi-Sambalpur Express on two dates this month to accommodate the expected increase in passenger traffic during Navratri.
According to a railway spokesperson, Train No. 18309, operating from Sambalpur to Jammu Tawi, will have the additional coach on October 19, while Train No. 18310, running from Jammu Tawi to Sambalpur, will operate with the extra coach on October 22.
The arrangement has been made to facilitate passengers travelling during the festive period, particularly devotees heading to Jammu and Katra to visit the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, the spokesperson said.
The temporary augmentation is expected to increase berth availability and ease pressure on waitlisted passengers amid higher travel demand.
Passengers have been advised to check train schedules and berth availability through the official Indian Railways website, indianrail.gov.in, and the IRCTC portal, irctc.co.in.
