Overnight rain created havoc in many parts of Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas due to chocking of drains as a result of which the rain water entered into the houses as well as in market areas of Kishtwar town creating loss to the business community.
The areas like Guldhali Chowk, Amar Market, Bhandari Mohallah, Kichloo Mohallah, Guriyan, Bunastan and Malik Market were worst hit as the flood water into residential houses.
As soon as the flooded water started creating havoc at around midnight, Kishtwar police team comprises of Dy. SP HQ Kishtwar Touseef Ahmed and SHO Kishtwar Sameer Geelani visited the affected areas and helped people in rescue operation, to prevent damages and loss of life.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan also visited the affected areas on today morning.
On the direction of DC Kishtwar, in charge Tehsildar Kishtwar Irshad Ahmed Butt along with Patwari Halqa Kishtwar visited these areas and prepared a detail report with regard to damages and also briefed the concern officials with regard to necessary measures to be taken to prevent the losses.
The people at Bunastan informed the visiting team that due to non availability of proper drainage in the area. They further said that the water coming from District Police Line Kishtwar also adds to the concern of the people who urged upon the administration to direct the police officials to prepare a comprehensive plan with regard to disposal of sewage and drainage water of Kishtwar police line so that such situation could be prevented in future.
At many places, encroachment around Nallahas and besides that many structures have come up in many areas of the town and its adjoining areas without any registration.
