The forecast by Kashmir Weather Forecast puts the current probability of the spell at around 55 per cent, with a marked change in weather conditions possible from October 8 after predominantly dry weather is expected to continue until October 5.

Snowfall during the period is likely to be confined mainly to higher reaches, while rain may occur over plains and other lower-lying areas, the forecast said.

However, the forecast is an early assessment, and the timing and intensity of the system could change as it approaches Jammu and Kashmir.

Kashmir Weather Forecast said further updates would be issued as the dates draw closer.
