SRINAGAR: Rains lashed plains while upper reaches received fresh light snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir since midnight, officials said on Sunday.
The weatherman has forecast widespread light to moderate rain and snow to continue till Monday.
“No forecast of any major snowfall. Overall improvement most likely from tomorrow onwards, he said.
Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of 0.6 while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of 3.4 degrees Celsius.
The famous ski-resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest place in the region where the minimum temperature was minus 1.4 degrees Celsius.
The temperature in Pahalgam the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra was 2.7 degrees Celsius.
Kokernag town recorded a low of 2.3 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of 1.6 degrees Celsius last night.
Jammu city recorded 13.6 degrees Celsius, Katra town 12.7, Batote 7.5, Banihal 7.8, and Bhaderwah 7.1 as the minimum temperatures
