SRINAGAR: Moderate rain-lashed Kashmir on Sunday as the meteorological (MET) department forecast rain/thunderstorms at scattered places and snowfall in higher reaches.
“Expect Another spell of light to moderate rain/thunderstorm and snowfall over higher reaches during April 14(Night) and April 15,” Sonam Lotus, the MET director said.
Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of 7.8 while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 7.2 degrees Celsius.
The famous ski-resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest place in the region where the minimum temperature was minus 0.2 degrees Celsius.
The temperature in Pahalgam the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra was 4.0 degrees Celsius.
Kokernag town recorded a low of 5.8 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of 5.2 degrees Celsius last night.
Jammu city recorded 20.4 degrees Celsius, Katra town 17.7, Batote 11.5, Banihal 9.2, and Bhaderwah 8.7 as the minimum temperatures.
