SRINAGAR: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to chair a high-level meeting at Raj Bhawan on Wednesday to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, he would inspect the situation in the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri.

Quoting officials, Excelsior reported that Rajnath Singh will first meet the senior Army Commanders at 16 Corps Headquarters in Nagrota to discuss the situation in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, including the Line of Control (LoC).

Following his engagements in Jammu, Rajnath Singh is scheduled to proceed to Rajouri and Poonch, where he will engage in interactions with military officials and civilians of the respective districts.

Northern Command chief Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Nagrota Corps GOC Lt Gen Sandeep Jain and senior Commanders will attend the meeting and brief the Defence Minister on ground situation.

A fresh strategy is likely to be devised in the meeting to fight the militant activities in twin disticts of Rajouri and Poonch. The meeting will be attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and top officials of Army, paramilitary forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police, civil administration and Intelligence agencies.
