Srinagar

A decision on whether the centre will extend the time period of Ramzan ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir is expected to be taken by Rajnath Singh when he visits the state on Thursday, reports claimed.

“Operations were never suspended only relief was given to the common people,” NDTV quoted Minister of State in PMO Jitender Singh saying. Before ceasefire, almost every day at least five cordon and search operations were taking place simultaneously, severely affecting daily lives of the local people, the report said.

“Extension of ceasefire suits both the BJP and PDP politically but will it be operationally viable is the call which the home minister will have to take,” NDTV quoted a senior government official as saying.
