Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana and District President Doda Khalid Najeeb Suhrawardy on Tuesday expressed their gratitude to the Greater Kashmir Trust for offering to provide temporary shelters for smooth functioning of 20 schools in earthquake hit Chenab Valley. Many school buildings were damaged due to tremors in the region early this month.

“This is a valuable support, which speaks of the concern of the Trust for academics of earthquake affected students”, the two leaders said in a statement while hailing the effort of Fayaz Ahmed Kaloo, the Editor-in-Chief of Greater Kashmir.

Rana and Suhrawardy hoped that this gesture of the GK Trust will inspire the philanthropic agencies and various organizations to share the agonies of the people and render much needed assistance for their rehabilitation.

“Governmental efforts alone are not enough to mitigate the sufferings of the victims, the civil society as a whole will have to come forward and help the needy in a big way”, they said.
