The order to this effect was issued by Director General of Police J&K, Dilbagh Singh who received some inputs through CID that these police officers tried to hush- up the rape case of an eleven-year minor girl after her mother came to the Police Station on April 17 to report that the modesty of her minor daughter was outraged by a youth who forcibly entered their house during the intervening night of April 16 and 17, newspaper Daily Excelsior quoted sources as having said. The Police has also handed over the case to Crime Branch for investigation, sources added.

Priyanka Kumari DySP, Police Component Jammu has been given charge of SDPO Vijaypur in addition to her own duties till further orders.

It may be recalled that a lady from Bazigar Basti had come to Vijaypur Police Station with a complaint that the modesty of her eleven-year daughter was outraged by a youth namely Sudheer of Nathwal, tehsil Vijaypur who forcibly entered their house during the intervening night of 16 and 17 April, reported Daily Excelsior.

Instead of registering the FIR the Vijaypur police tried to hush up the matter. However, the DG Police after getting some inputs in this regard through CID took serious exception of it and issued orders for attachment of DySP and suspension of other three cops including SHO Vijaypur.
