On his tenterhooks all along speech of Governor NN Vohra, Independent lawmaker Er Rasheed asked Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti if she had “forgot ban on Geelani’s Nimaz”.

The Budget Session of J&K Legislature started on Tuesday with Governor NN Vohra addressing both houses of state legislature in Banquet Hall of SKICC.

“Madam Ji (CM Mehbooba Mufti) kya aap Geelani shab ki Nimaz bhool gaye,” Rasheed said who stood alone in the house after National Conference and Congress lawmakers staged walk out from the house.

“Geelani has been banned from moving out of his house and offering mandatory prayers by your government,” Rasheed addressed Ms Mehbooba who was seated in front row along with Dy Cm Dr Nirmal Singh and A R Veeri and listening to the speech of Vohra. “You are doing same as done by Omar led government.”

In opposition, Ms Mehbooba Mufti had been forcefully raising house detention issue of ailing Geelani.

He lashed out PDP-BJP government for imprisoning Hurriyat Conference (g) secretary general (III) Masarat Aalam Bhat. “How many more PSAs (Public) Safety Act on Masarat? What is his fault?” Rasheed asked Ms Mehbooba Mufti.

To “maintain” law and order, government has been placing Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani under continuous house detention. Started in 2010, Geelani has stayed home for most of time “forcibly”.
