J&K Police in Kargil started a rescue operation after an accident took place in Drass.

A Bolero vehicle bearing registration number PB05F-1557 met with an accident and fell into river Drass near village Jasgund Drass on Leh-Srinagar Highway boarded by four persons, JKP spokesperson said Wednesday afternoon.

The Police team headed by Additional SP Kargil under the supervision of SSP Kargil with the assistance of civil administration and Army authorities started an immediate rescue operation.

“During rescue operation the vehicle was retrieved along with a body which was identified that of Arjun Singh son of Jaspal Singh resident of Basant Colony Pathankote but three others Bittu Singh son of Gurmat Singh, Gulshan Singh son of Gurmat Singh and Ratan Singh son of Chuni Singh, residents of Pathankote are still missing. Rescue operation is still going on despite the fast flow of the river,” the spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, the JKP spokesperson added that in a bid to end their lives, three persons consumed some poisonous substance in Islamabad and Budgam.

A 20 years old girl (name withheld) resident of Branird, Kokernag consumed some poisonous substance at her home. She was shifted to District Hospital Islamabad for treatment.

A 26 years old youth (name withheld) resident of Tathan, Kokernag consumed some poisonous substance at his home. He was shifted to District Hospital Islamabad for treatment, where from he was referred to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar for further treatment.

In another suicide attempt, a man (name withheld) resident of Budgam consumed some poisonous substance at his home. He was shifted to Sub District Hospital Magam for treatment wherefrom he was referred to JVC Hospital Bemina for further treatment. Budgam police has registered a case in this regard.
