SRINAGAR: The Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) staged a protest on Tuesday, raising concerns over ration curtailment, price hikes, property tax, water and electricity shortages. Led by General Secretary R.S Chib, DPAP workers expressed their dissatisfaction with the reduction in ration supply, the escalating cost of essential commodities, increasing unemployment, and the challenges faced with electricity and clean water supply in Jammu Kashmir.

“The authorities have cut down on monthly ration quotas, kerosene oil supply has vanished, and price hikes and unemployment have reached alarming levels,” stated Chib. The protesters demanded the restoration of the monthly ration quota, the rollback of property tax, and other decisions they deemed “anti-people.”

Following the protest rally, DPAP leaders submitted a memorandum of their demands to Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal. The memorandum encapsulated all the grievances for which DPAP has been conducting peaceful protest rallies over the past few months. Under the guidance of Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad, DPAP has organized various rallies, protests, and public outreach programs recently, aiming to directly address public concerns.

The protest rally saw the participation of notable individuals, including Anita Thakur, Ashok Sharma, Masood Choudhary, Lovely Gupta, Susheel Gupta, Subash Vaid, Hassan Mirza, Susheel Jamwal, Kashmir Singh, Rameshwar Sharma, Capt Joginder Singh, Ashwani Sharma, Vishal Sharma, Ashok Bhagat, Kulwant Singh, Suraj Sharma, Paramvir, Rajinder Singh, Rameez Khan, and many others.
