A team of Indian Red Cross Society, J&K State Branch headed by Hony General Secretary Roma Wani conducted 3-day tour of earthquake hit Chenab valley to assess the needs of the area and took stock of the post-earthquake measures undertaken for the relief and rehabilitation of the affected people.Red Cross team visits earthquake hit Chenab Valley-20

During the tour, the team visited Inderwal, Banihal, Ramban, Gool Arnas, Thatri, Drabshalla and high reaches.

The Hony General Secretary met the respective Deputy Commissioners, who are also the Chairmen of District Red Cross Committees, of Ramban, Doda, and Kishtwar districts and underlined the need for strengthening the volunteer base in their respective districts for carrying out Red Cross operations in a coordinated and effective way at the time of any natural calamity and mishaps.

The Hony General Secretary handed over the keys of an Ambulance to Deputy Commissioner, Doda. The J&K Branch of Red Cross would dispatch 50 more tents for the use of earthquake hit affected families, adding that it has already dispatched 135 tents and 200 blankets for the purpose.

Hony General Secretary also appealed the general public to get themselves registered with their respective District Red Cross Committees to become the volunteers of Indian Red Cross Society.
