Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Kishtwar Ajay Kumar Gupta has directed police to lodge an FIR against the Minister of State for Home Sajad Ahmed Kitchloo for slapping a government officer during duty hours. It was not immediately known if the police have registered the case or not.

Kitchloo had allegedly slapped the Chief Executive Officer Kishtwar Development Authority, Reyaz Ahmed Choudhry that triggered a lot of heat and dust. While KAS delegation requested Chief Minister to act against his minister, even a senior officer in the government had sought some action. The minister had slapped the officer when a party function was scheduled in town that Chief Minister presided over.

The Court, according to local news gathering agency CNS had directed the police to file a status report whether grounds are enough against the minister for registration of an FIR. Officials counsel Zulqarnain Shiekh presented his objections to a police status report claiming there was no reasonable grounds for registering an FIR against Kitchloo.

The Court reportedly admonished the Station House Officer Kishtwar and directed him to lodge an FIR against the accused. While awarding the judgment, CJM said,” I am of the view that SHO has furnished the so-called report without following any provisions of the law laid down under Criminal Procedure Code. As our country is governed by the rule of law and nobody is above law. As such the SHO Kishtwar is directed to register an FIR and then proceed in accordance with the law laid down by the Honorable Supreme Court.”
