JAMMU: Opposition leader and Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday stated that ordering the magisterial probe into the killings of innocent civilians in Shopian and simultaneously registering a specific FIR against Army, confuses the case, as it leaves no scope for what needs to be probed.

Speaking during the discussion on adjournment motion to discuss the rise in civilian killings in Kashmir, Omar Abdullah said that at the time when the government has already register an FIR in which the name of the accused was mentioned, there was no need to order Magistrate probe into the incident.

Omar said that magisterial probe is ordered only if the culprits are unidentified while in this case the names were clearly mentioned in FIR. He said that if FIR contains the name of accused, what the law stated that the police should have to go for the arrest of those named in the FIRs.

Omar questioned how many times we take adjournment motion?

He said that the civilians were hit directly on there chest and heads which indicate no restraint was maintained while dealing with the situation. He said that despite finding army officials guilty in Machil encounter, nothing was done.

He said that it is not NC or any opposition party which is playing politics over the issue, but it is being played within the PDP-BJP. He said that it is BJP MLA who demanded the withdrawal of FIR which means coalition partners are on the divided front.

Omar assures Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti that his party will fully support him to bring Kashmir out of the present turmoil and bloodshed.
