In the memory late Yasir Shirazi, who was a young Kashmiri business man, Hussainy Sports Club has organised a volleyball championship.
The volleyball championship was inaugurated on Monday at Shirazi’s ancestral home at Hassanabad Rainawari Srinagar.
Shirazai was killed by goons in Kazan area of Russia in March this year. He was in Russia for a business trip.
A statement issued by Hussainy Sports Club said that the first game was inaugurated by National Conference’s Tanvir Sadiq (Political Advisor to Omar Abdullah).
President Hussainy Sports Club, Tariq Rashid Ghani and brother of Yasir Shirazi Iqbal Shirazi and close friends were also present on the opening ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion Ghani said, “we will make volleyball team under the banner of JKHSC and the winners will be awarded with volleyball sports kits.”
Tanvir Sadiq encouraged participants and asked the organizers to hold such events for the youths of the society as “these activities will help them in eradication of social evils”.
He promised help to the Club and the prizes for winners of the tournament. “We are expecting 20 teams for the participation and there will be two games every day after 4 PM,” said Ahsan Ali, Secretary General of the Club.
The championship is supported and sponsored by Aala Group and Hotel Al-Riza.
