Residents of Munawar, Srinagar on Wednesday blocked movement of traffic on the busy crossing in the uptown city for nearly an hour on Wednesday to draw the attention of the authorities to the erratic power supply in the city.
Demanding power supply to the area, Men, women and children of the localities came on roads and blocked all the four lanes to prevent movement of traffic on the crossings which connect the uptown city with downtown and Dalgate areas, eyewitnesses said.
Police officers pleaded with the agitating residents to remove the blockade and allow traffic to ply but they did not listen. However, after the authorities assured them that they will take up the matter with the concerned authorities, the residents lifted the blockade. (Kashmir Wire).
