Srinagar

Government on Saturday imposed stringent restrictions in parts of Srinagar city thereby affecting normal routine in the summer capital.

The restrictions have been imposed in areas falling under three police stations including Nowhatta, M R Gunj and Safa Kadal. District administration in a statement issued on Friday said the restrictions have been imposed as a “precautionary measure”.

Pertinently, Hurriyat Conference (m) is observing “Hafta-e-Shahadat” to commemorate the “martyrdom” anniversaries of Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq and Late Abdul Gani Lone.

The restrictions have led to massive traffic gridlocks in other parts of the city particularly Hazratbal-Rainawari-Khanyar belt. “All along the route traffic was moving at snail’s pace. Jammu and Kashmir police personnel and traffic police cops had a difficult time to manage the traffic mess,” a local travelling on the route told Kashmir Life.

Meanwhile, reports said that the restrictions have also affected the attendance in government offices, educational institutes and other commercial activities.
