Urging the government to reverse ‘sinister’ decision of linking four districts of South Kashmir with Jammu rail head for receiving gas cylinders, instead of near by Pampore, the legislators of states main opposition, PDP, said that there was no valid reason for it and the earlier arrangement should be restored immediately.

In a party statement on Saturday, MLAs Mohammad Rafi Mir and Peerzada Mansoor Hussein raised their objection as four districts of South Kashmir, Islamabad, Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama are getting cooking gas from Jammu, while rest of the valley receives its supplies from Pampore.

The lawmakers say, in Jammu, the South Kashmir districts have to share the facility with the districts of that region and even in normal times remain in queue for days. They expressed apprehension that in winters this could go worse when the highway is prone to frequent blockades which will trigger a humanitarian crisis.
