Right Wing Politics Is Not Hinduism, Mehbooba Says

SRINAGAR: Former Jammu & Kashmir chief minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday while speaking to media persons in Jammu compared “communal” political parties with ISIS, adding, “communal parties and ISIS, both kill people in the name of religion.”

“The communal parties, which create wedge between Hindus and Muslims, lynch people in the name of religion are comparable to ISIS or any such organization because they both kill in the name of religion,” PDP President said, on the sidelines of party workers meet.

Responding to Salman Khurshid drawing equivalence between Hindutva and ISIS in his book, the former Chief Minister said, “I think, it is not about Hindutva or Hinduism. Real Sanatan Dharm doesn’t teach us communalism. It is RSS, Jana Sangh and BJP who are trying to make people fight each other throughout the country.”

She said that BJP/RSS have hijacked Hinduism in the name of their parties. “They feel Hindutva and Hinduism is BJP and RSS but it is not that.”

Referring to the Sanskrit saying “Vasudev Kutumbakam”, meaning world is one family, Mehbooba said, “Hinduism teaches us that, but the lesson BJP and RSS wants to teach, that neither is Hinduism, nor Hindutva.”

Meanwhile, far right group Bajrang Dal had protested against Mehbooba’s visit by raising slogans and showing black flags to the PDP president when she came out of Jammu Airport.
