Rs 132 Crore Spent to Boost Drinking Water Supply in North Kashmir: Minister

   

SRINAGAR: Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmad Rana, informed the Legislative Assembly that Rs 132 crore has been spent on improving drinking water supply schemes in Bandipora under JJM, UT Capex, and AMRUT 2.0.

Responding to a question by Nizam-u-din Bhat, the minister stated that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Bandipora Town Water Supply Scheme under AMRUT 2.0 is under survey and preparation.

He emphasised that providing potable water to every household is a key national initiative launched under the Jal Jeevan Mission for rural areas and AMRUT 2.0 for urban areas in Jammu & Kashmir.

On the Aham-Sharief–Athwatoo–Waven water supply scheme, he noted that the filtration component is functional in Herpora Athwatoo and Tanghtari, while completion stands at 60 percent for Bunpora Athwatoo/Tanghat, 70 percent for Ahamsharief, and 65 percent for Waven.

Legislators Nazir Gurezi, Balwant Singh Mankotia, and Choudhary Mohammad Akram raised supplementary questions on the matter.
