JAMMU: Cabinet Minister Sakeena Itoo on Tuesday criticised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) chairman Sajad Gani Lone, accusing them of assisting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the abrogation of Article 370.
“Everyone knows what the PDP and Sajad Lone did when they were in alliance with the BJP. These parties helped the BJP in abrogating Article 370 and damaging Jammu and Kashmir,” Itoo told reporters.
She said, “People will never repose their trust in PDP again. In the recent elections, people have reduced their number to just three MLAs.”
“People gave two chances to PDP one in 2002 and another in 2014 but on both the occasions party betrayed their trust,” she added.
The Minister said, “People are regretting giving chances to the PDP. The party is responsible for the mess Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing.”
Referring to the health sector in the Union Territory, Itoo said, “There is dearth of doctors and paramedical staff, but the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has been taking every possible measure to ensure better healthcare facilities to the people.”
“The previous regime remained confined to laying foundation stones and cutting ribbons, however, what we have achieved in the last three months, they (previous government) would not have done it in ten years,” she said
Criticising the opposition, Itoo said that those who once shared power with the BJP are now attempting to present themselves as defenders of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. She accused them of political opportunism and misleading the public for electoral gains. (With Inputs from KINS and KNO)
