Doda DDB Meet on May 23, 2016

The District Development Board Doda which met in Doda on Monday under the chairmanship of Minister for Social Welfare, ARI and Trainings, Sajad Gani Lone gave nod to annual CAPEX budget of Rs 167.71 crore for Doda district.

Lone took a comprehensive review of physical and financial achievements registered under last year district plan, an official spokesperson said this evening.

He stressed on proper planning and effective implementation of the schemes for obtaining desirable results on the ground.

Calling for area specific planning, he asked the concerned departments to focus on need based development with the involvement of local representatives.

“The departments should keep in view the topography of the mountainous district while formulating development plans,” he said and stressed on improvement of   basic amenities like drinking water, electricity, health care facilities, road connectivity and education facilities in the remote and hilly areas.

Stressing on the need for improving the quality of education, the chairman said government is committed to strengthen the existing educational infrastructure besides streamlining the functioning of government run schools.

Stressing on the judicious use of resources, the Minister impressed upon the officers to put their sincere and dedicated efforts for proper utilization of the funds allocated under various schemes. He also directed HODs   to conduct frequent field visits to monitor the quality and pace of developmental works.

The Minister also asked the Deputy Commissioner to hold regular meetings to assess the implementation of the developmental and welfare schemes adding that the officers concerned will be made accountable for their work.

He said the provision of basic amenities in the rural people has been given first priority by the government.

Listing the measures being taken by the government to improve health facilities, the chairman said besides ensuring adequate medical staff, the district hospitals would be equipped with latest and modern equipment.

The Minister also directed the Deputy Commissioner to take steps to remove bottlenecks for smooth and hassle free traffic. He also called for expediting forest clearance, land acquisition and disbursement of compensation to avoid delays in construction work.

Lone also asked the officers of Forest Department to take up massive plantation drive across the district to maintain ecological balance and expand the forest cover.

While reviewing the action taken report on decisions taken in previous DDB meeting,   Lone appreciated the district administration for the achievements registered in this regard. He exhorted upon the heads of the departments to implement the decisions of DDB in letter and spirit.

During the meeting, Legislators of the district highlighted the problems and issues of their respective constituencies and gave suggestions on the issues of public importance.

Earlier, DC Doda Bhupinder Kumar gave a power point presentation on the physical and financial achievements registered under last year plan. He said that against an availability of Rs 226.16 crore for the year 2015-16, an expenditure of Rs 225.27 crore has been registered, which works out to be 99.61%.
