Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura who is supervising the relief measures in various landslide and rain affected areas of Budgam today visited various areas of the district including Ariwadi, Frislab, Watran and Arigam villages and took stock of the people’s problems.

He also reviewed the fiscal and financial achievements of various departments in a meeting held under his chair at District Headquarters here.

The meeting was attended by the District Development Commissioner, Budgam Mir Altaf Ahmad and other senior officers of district administration.

While giving brief about the achievements registered by various departments in the district during the year 2014-15, the Minister was informed that Rs.17.88 cr was distributed under State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) among the September, 2014 flood affected families. He was informed that 881 houses were fully, 340 severely, 9691 partially, 2072 cow sheds and 4004 huts damaged during the September floods in the district.

While taking review of education sector, the Minister was informed that the construction work of 201 school buildings under SSA against the target of 331 buildings were completed and the work on the remaining buildings is apace.

The Minister also reviewed the progress of work on ongoing hospital buildings.

Addressing the meeting, the Minister instructed the executing agencies including Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC) to speed up the pace of work on all under execution school and hospital buildings and complete them in time bound manner. He also asked them for judicious use of funds and standard material.

The Minister asked the offices to work with utmost dedication and come up to the expectations of the people. He said that the Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is committed to provide transparent and corruption free government to the people of the State. He said to fulfil this dream, the officers should play a pivotal role and to solve the people’s problems they should reach the people on ground.

Earlier, a condolence meeting was held to express sympathies with the bereaved family members of Ledder incident. The participants prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls.
