Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat Tuesday said the Civil Hospital Pahalgam has been upgraded as New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) with requisite diagnostic equipment including UCG machine, X-ray Plant, Boyles Apparatus, Defibrillator with ECG Monitor, Operation Table, Dental Chair and Deep Freezer.

Replying to a question by Sofi Yousuf in the Upper House, Bali Baghat informed the house that a project costing Rs 18.69 crore was approved for NTPHC Pahalgam under NHM in 2011-12 and Rs 3.00 Crore was released for the project. He, however, said that work could not be executed due to ban on construction imposed by High Court in the area and the matter is being vigorously pursued by the department.

The Health Minister said the hospital is functioning with two medical officers and other requisite paramedical staff, while additional staff and ambulances are provided to the health institution during   Amarnath Yatra. The Minister said that a Tempo Traveler Ambulance is also available in the Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Minister said that the proposal for upgradation of Sub-Health Centre Aru,   to the level of PHC is being examined by the department. However, he informed the House that presently, there is no proposal for upgrading   Srigufwara and Kullar PHCs as Sub-District Hospitals.
