Rs 1830 Cr Plan to Boost Nano Entrepreneurship in Jammu Kashmir: Govt

   

SRINAGAR: The Labour and Employment Department aims to establish 1.5 lakh nano-entrepreneurships, each with an investment of under Rs 10 lakh and requiring no collateral from applicants, under the Mission YUVA.

The initiative is supported by a total budget allocation of Rs 1830 crore, a DIPR statement reads.

The announcement came during a detailed review meeting chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister to assess the functioning of the Labour and Employment Department.  Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary said that the Government is focused on boosting entrepreneurship and employment across Jammu and Kashmir.

During the meeting, the department presented progress under various schemes through a power point presentation. The Deputy Chief Minister conducted a district-wise review of all ongoing schemes and assessed the challenges affecting their outcomes.

Surinder Choudhary underlined the importance of raising awareness about labour welfare schemes to ensure that benefits reach the intended population. He directed officers to organise regular awareness camps and ensure broad participation from stakeholders. He also urged officials to encourage individuals and create an enabling environment for business growth, with an emphasis on capacity building.

He reiterated the Government’s focus on establishing Jammu and Kashmir as a centre of enterprise and employment. He instructed for regular inspections of industrial units, hotels, factories and other business establishments to monitor working conditions and ensure compliance with worker welfare norms.

Following the review meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister met with several deputations who presented their concerns. He assured them that the Government would work towards resolving their issues within a fixed timeline.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Labour and Employment Rajiv Ranjan, Labour Commissioner Charandeep Singh, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Assistant Labour Commissioners of Jammu division and other departmental officers.
