SRINAGAR: Russia unleashed 574 drones and 40 missiles on Ukraine in one of the heaviest bombardments in weeks, Ukrainian officials said according to Reuters.
The strikes, concentrated on western regions, killing one person and injured dozens.
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha as per RT said that “major American electronics manufacturer” in western Ukraine was among the targets, though he provided no details. Officials noted it was Russia’s third-largest drone assault this year and its eighth-largest missile strike.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned that efforts to build new security arrangements in Ukraine without Moscow’s involvement were “doomed to fail,” vowing Russia would defend its interests “firmly and harshly,” reports BBC.
The escalation follows US President Donald Trump’s talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska and a subsequent White House summit with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders aimed at finding a path to peace.
