Two militants including top militant commander, Sabzar Ahmad Bhat, have been killed in the encounter that erupted in Saimu Tral, on Saturday in Southern Kashmir Pulwama District.

Sabzar was close aide of slain Hizbul Mujhaideen commander Burhan wani who was killed on july 8 last year.

Another one has been identified as Faizan, a teenager who has reportedly joined ranks recently.
Earlier on Friday night, police said, suspected militants fired upon a patrolling party that triggered encounter.

“Encounter started at Saimu Tral district Awantipur,” Director General of Police, Shesh Paul Vaid tweeted adding that three militants are believed to be trapped in.

Soon after, police officials said, siege was laid around the village and forces cordoned off the village for entire night. However, no exchange of fire was reported till morning.

However, police said that, militants opened on fire from the place which is cordoned off and encounter has raged.
