SRINAGAR: Former minister and senior National Conference leader Ajay Kumar Sadhotra on Tuesday condemned the attack on two brothers, belonging to minority Kashmiri Hindu community, in Shopian, rendering one dead and another critically injured.

“This is the most inhuman and barbarous act,” Sadhotra said in a statement issued here this afternoon, adding that no words are enough to express shock and grief over the demise of Sunil Kumar.

Sadhotra wished speedy recovery to Sunil Kumar’s brother, Pintu Kumar.

He said the incident coming days after a non-Kashmiri labourer killed in Bandipora speaks volumes about the security apparatus, which he stressed, to be geared up fully to check the selective targeting.

He said the selective and targeted attacks are a matter of concern and hoped the administration will have some sort of introspection over the growing number of such incidents.

Sadhotra said such incidents are alien to the glorious and inclusive culture of Kashmir, which has withstood the test of time from times immemorial. The people, he hoped, will rise against such act.

Sadhotra said: “My heart goes to the family of the bereaved young man, who became yet another victim”.

He prayed for peace to the departed soul, strength to his family and solidarity with all those who have lost their near ones in the cult of violence.

The former minister urged the administration to ensure specialized treatment of the injured even if it entails shifting him to any super-specialty hospital.
