Srinagar: Bodies of all ten missing passengers, who were buried under a snow avalanche near Sadna top in Kupwara district were recovered Saturday after the long rescue operation.

The rescue operation launched Friday afternoon ended Saturday evening with the recovery of a woman and her daughter.

Police identified the woman as Shafqat Begum and her daughter as Amina Maqbool, residents of Gundi Saydean village in Karnah.

Ten passengers went missing on Friday afternoon after a snow avalanche hit two vehicles near the Sadna top.
Bodies of dead passengers including four women, all residents of Karnah, were sent to their hometown Karnah for burial, they said.

The victims were identified as Altaf Ahmad Check, son of Mohammad Summander Chack of Nopora Tangdar, Shakeela Begum, wife of Abdul Rahim Parray from Suliman Tangdar, Abdul Rashid Joo, son of Abdul Majeed Joo of Dildar, Fareed Hussain Shah son of Momin Ali Shah, Chapee Begum, wife of Fareed Hussain Shah and Ghulam Hussain Shah son of Mir Ahmad Shah, all residents of Chamkote village, Naida Bano daughter of Bashir Ahmad Khowaja from Gundi Gujran.

Meanwhile, thousands of people participated in the last rites of the deceased who were buried in graveyards of their native villages but the funeral of Shafqat Begum and her daughter Amina Maqbool whose bodies reached their native village late evening would be offered tomorrow, reports said.
