Minister for Rural Development, Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar has termed the killing of Habibullah Mir, Sarpanch of Gouripora-Sopore as a heinous crime maintaining that he used to work round the clock for ensuring that the people of his area do not face any inconvenience. “We have already directed the police authorities to identify the culprits who have committed this heinous crime so that necessary action would be initiated against them,” said Sagar.

As per a statement, the Minister visited the home of slain sarpanch to offer condolences to the bereaved family, where he said that the people who have committed this dastardly act are enemies of peace and want to disturb the peaceful environs of the state. He said, “People should understand that these elements are bent upon to spread death and destruction in the state and they should collectively work to defeat their nefarious designs.”

While assuring the family members, the Minister said that the government will do all that is needed for the family and the necessary instruction have been passed to the concerned.

Sagar also met people of several localities and appealed them to work collectively so that the evil designs of enemy are defeated. He said, “The state has witnessed decades of death and destruction and we must not allow these forces to succeed.”
