After being unwell for some time, Director General of Police (DGP) K Rajindera Kumar on Monday resumed his duties at police headquarters here.  Sources told KNS, that the DGP remained in his officer for over three hours during which he went through many official works.  On July 8 evening, he was admitted to SKIMS Soura after he complained about severe abdominal pain.

Meanwhile, Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Armed, S M Sahai was appointed as nodal officer for the upcoming assembly elections on behalf of the DGP Kumar.

Sahai confirmed about his new assignments saying that an order to this effect has been issued and he will be acting on behalf of DGP K Rajindera Kumar. Sources said that an order has been issued by the police headquarters by virtue of which Sahai has been appointed as Nodal officer for the upcoming assembly elections in the state and besides that he will be looking after law and order situation in the state.

A 1987-batch IPS officer Sahai has served in various important capacities in the police including that of IG Kashmir twice and DIG Poonch during the peak of militancy. As the nodal officer Sahai would be overseeing law and order, visiting fields to see deployment during the polls and would be working closely with the DGP Kumar. Further sources said that Sahai has been assigned to accompany Rajindera to unified command meetings.
