Police is likely to file charge sheet against the army driver for the harsh and negligent driving whose involvement in fatal accident at Parimpora resulted into death of seven people on July 16.

Sources told KNS that police will produce the charge sheet against the army driver namely Kishan Kumar of 51 RR on July 27, in the court of law and he will be likely facing the charges of harsh and negligent driving.

Pertinently, the army driver was arrested in Parimpora fatal accident case in which seven passengers loss their lives has applied for bail on July 19. Arrested by Parimpora police station, the army driver was driving the vehicle; actually a recovery van that had collided with a Tavera carrying passengers on Srinagar-Baramullah road was arrested after massive protest demonstration in HMT area where the fatal accident resulted into seven deaths.

Seven people, including a pregnant woman, were killed Wednesday when the army vehicle rammed into a passenger cab, triggering massive protests and clashes between youth and police near the place of occurrence. Police later seized the vehicle, arrested its driver and lodged a case for further investigation.

The police have registered three FIRs vide number 139, 140, 142 into the incident; under section 304 A of RPC (death caused by rash and negligent driving); Section 307 (attempt to murder); Section 353 (assault or use of criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duties) against Major of Army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles at Parimpora Police Station.

In a bid to save their driver from the wrath of local protestors, army personnel from 51 RR had reportedly resorted to intense aerial firing. Reports had maintained that the accident took place near Hokarsar wetland on the highway at around 10:30 AM when the passenger cab—Travera (JK 01P-1464) was on its way from Sopore town in north Kashmir to Srinagar, ferrying at least nine passengers.

According to eyewitnesses, the cab was moving on its side and the army pick-up vehicle was coming from the opposite direction.
