Sainik Manasbal LogoSainik School Manasbal (SSM) Friday expressed deep shock and grief over the tragic death of its two former students.

An official of the SSM said that the whole school family sympathizes with the two bereaved families.

Around 1:10pm today, two friends, Khalid Latief and Moosa Salam riding a bike met an accident at Gangerhama near Police Station Kheerbawani in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district resulting in on-spot death of the duo.

“Khalid and Moosa were 26th batch mates of our school and were very smart students,” the official said. “We are in deep shock to know about the death of the duo.”

Moosa, 21, was pursuing engineering from Bangalore while Khalid, 21, who is a resident of Chinkral Mohalla in Old city here, was a student in ITI Khanyar.

The official informed that a delegation from the school authorities participated in the Nimaz-i-Jinaza of Moosa Salam in his native village of Tulmulla which lies around 5 kms from the SSM. “The deceased students had joined SSM in May 2006 and after passing their matriculation examination left the school in 2011.”

Friends of the duo said that Moosa was on way to home of Khalid when they met the fateful accident. “Khalid’s parents are scheduled to leave for Hajj pilgrimage a few months later; because Moosa remains out of his native place for most of the time, Khalid had invited him to his home for blessings from his parents,” they said, “unfortunately, this was their last journey.” Khalid had joined Moosa at his Tulmulla home Thursday evening and spent whole night with him there.

“SSM family shares the grief of the bereaved families and we pray that the duo find the highest place in Jannah,” the official said.
