Couple of weeks ahead of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir,  Separatist leader turned pro-India politician and the son of slain Hurriyat leader Sajad Gani Lone met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence on Monday evening.

According to reports, after meeting the PM, the former separatist leader praised Modi’s “humble attitude” and termed him as a very “down to earth person”.

Lone who was all praises for Modi said, “Modi was so large hearted that it was tough to say whether I was meeting PM of India or my elder brother.”

Earlier, Modi-Lone meet had triggered speculations that the son of former Hurriyat leader Abdul Gani Lone may join hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Lone according to sources is all set to extend its indirect support to BJP in Jammu and Kashmir where polling for the state assembly  commences on November 25. A close aide of Lone further added that Lone also impressed upon the Prime Minister to “extend a helping hand to the flood victims of Kashmir”.

When asked is PC mulling to join hands with BJP, he said ,“yes, issues related to coming assembly elections were also discussed and I can tell you only one thing that all options are open and anything can happen in future.”

Lone, however, dismissed all speculations saying that his meet with PM Modi was a personal one. “I came to meet the PM as a Kashmiri and was glad to know that he is keen on overall development of Kashmir.”

“The PM wants to make the Valley the most beautiful place in the world,” Lone said adding “I met PM Modi for massive investments in Kashmir, that’s all we talked about.”

Interestingly, BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav had recently met Lone in Srinagar.
