Sakeena Itoo Pushes Online Recovery, Disbursement System For JKSCSTBC Corporation

   

SRINAGAR : The Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Classes Development Corporation has decided to intensify recovery of long-pending loans and introduce an online system for loan recovery and disbursement of welfare schemes.

The decision was taken at the 46th meeting of the Corporation’s Board of Directors, chaired by Minister for Social Welfare, Education, Health and Medical Education Sakeena Itoo at the Civil Secretariat here on Monday.

The Board directed the Corporation to expedite recovery of outstanding dues and use all permissible measures for effective follow-up, while also asking it to establish an online mechanism for recovery and disbursement under various schemes.

The meeting also approved the Corporation’s Budget Estimates for 2026-27, covering its revenue and capital requirements and providing for implementation of developmental and welfare programmes.

During the meeting, Itoo called for greater efficiency, transparency and accountability in the Corporation’s functioning, stressing that welfare schemes should reach eligible beneficiaries without unnecessary delays.

She directed officials to streamline procedures and improve coordination to make financial assistance, self-employment opportunities and other support measures more accessible to the targeted communities.

“Welfare interventions should translate into tangible improvements in the socio-economic conditions of beneficiaries,” Itoo said, stressing the need to promote entrepreneurship, sustainable livelihoods and economic self-reliance.

She also asked the Corporation to maintain regular engagement with beneficiaries and community representatives and address genuine concerns within the prescribed framework.

The Board stressed the need for financial discipline, timely implementation of approved programmes and effective delivery of benefits to members of the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Classes communities.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Planning, Development and Monitoring R Alice Vaz, Commissioner Secretary Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Achal Sethi, Director General Budget Sultan Malik, Managing Director JKSCSTBC Development Corporation Ranjeet Singh, Director Finance Social Welfare Department Seema Bhasin and other Board members and senior officers.
