SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir MLA Salman Sagar on Thursday moved a resolution in the Legislative Assembly seeking the denotification of Phaak and Rural Block Harwan from the Srinagar Master Plan.
The resolution seeks to limit the jurisdiction of the Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) in the two areas and allow their regulation under applicable Panchayati Raj and Rural Development laws.
Sagar said the move was aimed at addressing what he described as “unnecessary urban planning restrictions” that were causing hardship to residents of the predominantly rural areas.
The resolution proposes that Phaak and Rural Block Harwan be removed from the Srinagar Master Plan and that the areas be governed through the existing rural development and Panchayati Raj framework.
The resolution will be taken up for discussion later during the ongoing autumn session of the Assembly.
