SRINAGAR: Prominent cricket mentor Naushad Khan, father and coach of India cricketer Sarfaraz Khan, visited the MS Cricket Academy at Malla Bagh here and interacted with young players.
During the session, Naushad observed the trainees during net practice and shared guidance on batting and other aspects of the game. He stressed the importance of physical fitness, technical discipline and sustained practice for players looking to progress in competitive cricket.
He also interacted with the academy’s coaches and players and offered suggestions to help the trainees improve their skills.
Naushad, who played a key role in guiding Sarfaraz through his domestic career before his India debut, urged the young cricketers to remain focused and committed despite the challenges faced by players in the region.
The visit was welcomed by the academy, with officials saying the interaction provided the trainees an opportunity to learn from an experienced cricket mentor.
Naushad’s visit comes after former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin also visited the Malla Bagh academy and conducted a coaching clinic for young cricketers.
During his visit, Azharuddin had stressed the need for improved cricket infrastructure in Kashmir, including the development of turf wickets, and called for a structured local league system to provide players with a pathway to higher-level competition.
Coaches and academy officials said interactions with experienced former and current cricket figures could help motivate young players and provide them with practical guidance as they pursue competitive cricket.
