SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has set October 31 as the target for the rollout of healthcare services at AIIMS Awantipora, with the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg directing departments to clear pending issues within specified deadlines.
Garg chaired a meeting on Friday to review the operational readiness of the institute, where issues related to electricity supply, the dedicated power sub-station, land and fire safety were discussed.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department and Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) to resolve pending inter-departmental issues by Monday and ensure electricity for the water supply system at the institute.
For commissioning the dedicated power sub-station, Garg asked KPDCL to issue the requisite No Objection Certificate to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) at the earliest to facilitate uninterrupted power supply to AIIMS Awantipora.
He also directed the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama to assist CPWD engineers in resolving land-related issues concerning the facility.
The Deputy Commissioner was further asked to make arrangements for transporting the general public up to the entrance of AIIMS Awantipora to ensure convenient access to the hospital.
On fire safety, the Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned officers to conduct a joint inspection of the facility and issue the required certification by October 5.
The meeting was attended by the Executive Director of AIIMS Awantipora, SSP Traffic and officers and engineers from PHE, KPDCL and various wings of CPWD.
