Unknown youth on Saturday barged into the premises of government High School Sanant Nagar in the heart of summer capital Srinagar and harassed the staff, informed sources said. They allegedly damaged the boundary wall of the School.

Sources said the “gang” of young men was armed with iron rods, crowbars. They first forced their entry into the school building and misbehaved with the female staff. Later the group tore down a portion of the boundary wall while hurling threats at the female staff of the school who had tried in vain to save the wall from damage.

“They hurled threats and abused the female staff of the School in front of some local elders who watched all this,” one eye witness alleged. The frightened staff approached the higher authorities including director School education Kashmir immediately and also informed the local police.

A police party visited the spot, interacted with the staff. There was not been any arrests, so far.

Off late, the security of the schools attracted lot of attention following burning down of around 30 Schools in Kashmir valley during the recent unrest.

The school ground of this particular school had become a favourite place for drug addicts after school hours forcing authorities recently to rebuild the boundary wall. The locals are also resisting construction of a hall inside the School premises.
