As the police are investigating the Sanat Nagar shootout which took place Saturday afternoon locals claim that the Army personnel fired in air without any reason.
Police sources told Kashmir Life that the two Motorcycle born youth were questioned who were on spot at the time of firing and they revealed that army men fired some shots in air without any reason.
“There seems that army men might have fired in some confusion because the preliminary investigation does not give any clue about the presence of militants around,” police sources said.
When contacted, Inspector General Police Kashmir range, AG Mir said, “We are investigating the incident”.
Sources said that after the claims of the locals, police have started a high level investigation in Saturday’s Sanat Nagar firing incident.
The eyewitnesses also claim that army men fired some fire shots and fled from the area.
“I saw army personnel firing in air without any provocation,” a local wishing anonymity told Kashmir Life.
Another local claiming to be an eyewitness of the incident told KL over phone, “How is it possible that army men will leave without any search operation if they are fired upon by the militants”. He added “army men had a brief conversation with police before they left the spot.”
Earlier, in the day some fire shots were heard in Sanat Nagar area causing panic. It was reported that suspected militants have fired upon an army convoy in the area.
