Authorities on Monday morning suspended the mobile internet service in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, following a gunfight in Sangran area of the district.

An official said that telecom operators in the district have been asked to suspend the services as a  “precautionary measure”.

Earlier militants and government s exchanged gunfire in Sangran area of Shopian district on the early morning of Monday.

The gunfight began after a joint team of army’s 34RR, CRPF and SOG cordoned off Sangran in wee hours. As the joint team of intensified searches towards the suspected house, the hiding militants inside the house fired upon government forces triggering an encounter.
